چکیده

For theorem proving in non-classical logics two similar approaches have been established: a matrix characterization of Wallen and Ohlbach’s resolution calculus. In both cases the essential extension of the classical calculi is a need for unifying the so-called prefixes of atomic formulae or so-called world-paths respectively. We present a specialized string-unification algorithm which computes a minimal set of most general unifiers. By transforming systems of equations we obtain an elegant and efficient procedure which applies to intuitionistic logic and the modal logic S4. With some modifications it also applies to the modal logics D, K, D4, K4, S5, and T. We explain our method by an intuitive graphical illustration, prove termination, correctness, completeness, and minimality, and investigate its complexity.

Non-clausal Connection-based Theorem Proving in Intuitionistic First-Order Logic

This paper introduces a non-clausal connection calculus for intuitionistic first-order logic. It is an extension of the non-clausal connection calculus for classical logic by prefixes and an additional prefix unification, which encode the Kripke semantics of intuitionistic logic. nanoCoP-i is a first implementation of this intuitionistic non-clausal connection calculus. Details of the compact P...

leanCoP 2.0and ileanCoP 1.2: High Performance Lean Theorem Proving in Classical and Intuitionistic Logic (System Descriptions)

leanCoP is a very compact theorem prover for classical firstorder logic, based on the connection (tableau) calculus and implemented in Prolog. leanCoP 2.0 enhances leanCoP 1.0 by adding regularity, lemmata, and a technique for restricting backtracking. It also provides a definitional translation into clausal form and integrates “Prolog technology” into a lean theorem prover. ileanCoP is a compa...

Bernhard Beckert Rigid E - Unification

By replacing syntactical unification with rigid E-unification, equality handling can be added to rigid variable calculi for first-order logic, including free variable tableau (Fitting, 1996), the mating method (Andrews, 1981), the connection method (Bibel, 1982), and model elimination (Loveland, 1969); for an overview of these calculi, see Chapters I.1.1 and I.1.2.
